Some Useful Modern Technology For Your Office Space

It is extremely difficult to keep up to date with all of the impressive technological innovation being offered nowadays for organisations to run in their offices. Let’s face it, it isn’t all helpful to all businesses but there are of course some great and sometimes overlooked nuggets out there.

The combination of a smart, nicely located office space that embraces some of the relevant technological advances may have important benefits for both the everyday running of a business, as well as how a company is perceived by its clients. For instance, its fair to say that a company that frequently presents ideas to visiting clients would be better perceived with a specialist audio visual system, as opposed to the kind most of us have seen before which have a habit of faltering mid presentation, requiring an IT specialist to run in and get the thing up and running again. That’s only one example of how advancing technology can impact your company. Below are a few more examples:

Another common example is that of video conferencing. With the advent of Skype along with other systems on the mass market many of us are a lot more mindful of this sort of communication than we used to be. The thing is that for those market sectors that constantly need to hook up from nation to nation through video, maybe for crucial meetings, a dedicated, professional system is required. There are lots of companies offering these types of systems and they can have a dramatic impact on the professionalism of a company, particularly if you often communicate with important clients through video and audio.

IPTV is yet another modern technology which is all around us, usually without us knowing it. This technology is employed in lots of ways, one example is for sending video information over a high speed broadband internet connection, IPTV is the technology that drives the BBC’s iPlayer. IPTV is also used for digital signage which we come across at airport terminals, railway stations, home improvement stores and inside of large office buildings. IPTV has a huge role to play within the offices of many organisations with regards to the networking of an array of digital information. An increasing number of companies are realising its potential and adopting it.

Blocking Spam Email Messages in Gmail

Gmail has perhaps one of the most effective spam-filtering systems among Web mail services. But once in a while, junk still finds its way into the user’s inbox. Fortunately, marking spam as such and getting rid of it is easy.

Mark an Email Message as Spam

First, make sure you are logged in to your Gmail account. Locate the spam messages and then:

  1. Click the check box to the left of the spam message. If you want to select multiple emails, press the Ctrl key as you click each one, or the Shift key if they follow one another.
  2. On the toolbar immediately above the messages list, click the icon with a circle and exclamation point. The tool tip should display Report spam.
  3. Gmail will display the message “This conversation has been marked as spam.” If you made a mistake, click Undo.
  4. If you selected a message from an address that you are also subscribed to, Gmail will display a message saying, “In addition to marking this message as spam, Gmail can attempt to automatically unsubscribe you from [sender] by sending an unsubscribe request on your behalf.” You can unsubscribe and report the mail as spam, or just mark that particular message as junk.

Remove an Email Message from Spam

If you marked a legitimate conversation as junk mail, don’t despair. You can still remove the “spam” label on it. Do this as soon as possible, so you do not miss out on any important messages from the sender that was accidentally blocked. Also spam messages are deleted from your mailbox after a month.

  1. While in Gmail, bring your mouse over to the left sidebar, just between the sidebar and the messages pane. Wait for the vertical scroll bar to appear.
  2. Find the label marked as Spam. You may have to click More to see it.
  3. Click the Spam label.
  4. Select the message to restore.
  5. On the toolbar, click Not spam.

Delete Spam Email Messages

If you know an email is junk, and you don’t need it, there’s no reason why it should stay in your mailbox. When you delete spam, it’s gone forever. Doesn’t that feel good? Alternatively, you can let Google Nature run its course: all mails marked as spam are automatically deleted after 30 days.

  1. Go to the Spam label on the left sidebar.
  2. Select the messages to be deleted.
  3. Click Delete forever on the toolbar.
  4. To delete all spam, click Delete all spam messages now.

You should see a message reading, “All messages marked spam have been deleted forever.
